In the early 9th century, the kings of Mercia exercised a hegemony over the kings of southern England. After the battle, Mercia supremacy ended and established West Saxon dominance in southern England.

This is the symbol in the English war "The Anarchy". It was a war between England and Normandy between 1135 and 1153. The conflict originated in a succession crisis towards the end of the reign of King Henry the 1st. Stephen of Blois took power, which was marked by fierce fighting with English barons. After the Anarchy war, the Treaty of Wallingford was established, but Stephen still remained king.
